A downloadable game

A game about social climbing made for the Nemesis Jam. Features Victorian silliness as you maneuver your way through events and become the wealthiest socialite.

The fancier the event, the more money is on the line to win or lose. Your skills will help you win by a wider margin, but failing an event will increase your skills. Manage your risks to level up and outclass NPCs without going bankrupt yourself.

I enjoyed the writing and presentation of this game a lot! I didn't really get a good feel for what my goals were like (would I win if my value reached the top?), and found it difficult to predict the outcomes of various events - particularly when my stats start out so average! I had to peruse the list of socialites to estimate how good my stats were compared to everyone else's, which was interesting but a bit tedious.

The "when you fail your stats go up" mechanism was really clever and made me feel like I could potentially game the system in an interesting way!

Thanks!  Yeah, there are a few feedback things like you mentioned that I didn't get around to implementing 😅.  You're spot on, though- you win by getting the most wealth & you can and should 'game' the system to alternate between boosting stats and making money!

Cheers!

yes!! of course I totally expect a lot of these were things that you would have implemented had you the time, I hope you don't mind that I have a hard time turning off crit brain :')

Haha- no worries! It's a good reminder of what kind of features to prioritize! 😄
